In the first quarter of 2006, spending on Internet advertising rose to $3.9 billion up 38% from the same period in 2005.
Looking back, the figures are: | 2002 | $6 billion | | 2003 | $7.2 billion | | 2004 | $9.6 billion | | 2005 | $12.5 billion | | 2006 | $18 billion* | | 2007 | $24 billion* |
Except for 2006 and 2007, figures are for the US from the Interactive Advertising Bureau. * Forecast. Here at Chorial we remember a forecast back in 2002 that said spend would grow at 40% a year to $7 billion in 2007. How wrong that was. We venture to suggest it might be more than three times that in 2007. |
