New website launch

You are browsing Chorial’s new website launched today (1 June 2006). The purpose of the new site is to provide a useful source of news and articles related to internet marketing in Scotland as well as illustrating Chorial’s services.

The website was designed and engineered by ISPY Business Solutions of Glasgow. Neill Ritchie of ISPY commented “We were delighted to have won the contract for the project. Chorial sets very high standards for itself and with its encyclopaedic knowledge of websites and web marketing might have been hard to please. However we were able to exceed their expectations in design, training and support”.

Chorial has experience of several Content Management Systems (CMS) used to maintain and update websites and decided that Mambo would be the best choice for our own website. Mambo is search engine friendly unlike many CMS and this was a major factor. Also, it is open source software programmed in non-proprietary tools such as PHP and MySQL.

Most website developers offer a CMS but most are proprietary, having been written by and for the website developer. Unless the licensing of the CMS is agreed as part of the contract between developer and client there can be awkward and urgent Intellectual Property problems should the client want to move the website. If Chorial is involved in the website strategy these issues will of course be picked up early. Chorial is unusual in having extensive knowledge of website development as well as internet marketing but does not develop websites itself. This independence is often very valuable to clients.
